Preble County invests in long-term business basics that a company needs to produce supply to meet demand such as strong education, training, affordable housing, and young infrastructure.  In order to enhance our overall unique quality of life while growing good jobs with high earnings, we continue to focus and improve on our workforce education initiatives.
 


Higher earnings aren’t the only benefit associated with education.  The more educated one is, the more likely they are to enjoy stable, long-term employment.  This is the philosophy of Preble County School Districts which is why the
public school expenditures per student is $9,052, the student to teacher ratio is 18.2, and the graduation rate 90.4%.

Our schools have achieved received both Excellent and Effective ratings by the State of Ohio.  With low student to teacher ratios and high graduation rates, families can experience a high quality of life in both community amenities and education.

Preble County is located between three of the Top 13  Ohio counties with the highest levels age 25+ with a bachelors or graduate/professional degree.
 


 

Miami Valley Career Technology Center is a key driver in the success of many employers in the Preble County Ohio region. 

MVCTC's rigorous math and science curriculum provides students and employees with knowledge based skills including critical thinking, problem solving, and global communication skills. 
 

MVCTC serves 27 school districts from 5 southwest Ohio counties. Offering more than 50 career technical programs to area high school junior and seniors.  Nearly 60% of MVCTC's 2009/2010 high school population has taken the Tech Prep initiative to be one step closer to entering their field of study.  Their focus is on developing skill-sets in technical, high demand fields such as health, sciences, business, engineering and more. 

The largest career-technical school district in Ohio, Butler Tech, is located only 18 miles from the southern boarder of Preble County and operates 190 satellite programs in ten associate school districts.

Preble County's location in the Dayton - Cincinnati region provides an abundant amount of qualified, skilled workforce. Hamilton, Montgomery, and Butler Counties rank in the top 8 of highest levels of employment in the entire State of Ohio.

Preble County has an abundant, available workforce. More than 10,900 educated and skilled residents travel outside of the County to work.  Preble County employers attract more than 2,800 employees from neighboring counties.

AGRICULTURAL IMPACT

Preble County residents are proud of their agricultural blend and seek a wider market for the farm community.  There are 1,065 farms in Preble County and more than 615 farmers that list farming as their primary occupation while 450 list farming as their secondary occupation.  Preble County is leading agricultural producer of soybeans, corn for grain, and hogs.  Agriculture is Ohio's number one industry contributing more than $98 billion to the states economy, and Preble County contributes more than 60,306 acres of corn, 85,633 acres of soybeans, and 173,802 hogs to that number.  Preble County Farmers generate more than $109 million in cash receipts each year.
